PROJECT TITLE: Development of a vision based multi-degree of freedom feeding serial manipulator for the patients suffering from neurological disorders and infectious diseases (COVID-19).

Dr Reena Trivedi(SoE,ME), Prof.Priyam Parikh (IDNU),Dr. Jatin Dave (SoE, ME) and Dr Keyur Joshi (Ahmedabad University) have received a grant of 16.5 lakh INR from GUCOST  for development of a vision based multi-degree of freedom feeding serial manipulator for the patients suffering from neurological disorders and infectious diseases (COVID-19). The aim of the project is to design and develop a low-cost feeding assistive robot for the people suffering from various types of neurological disorders as well as for specially abled people. The robot is digitally fabricated using FDM 3D printed and Co2 laser machine. Open MV7 camera is used for face detection of the patient. Graphical user Interface is designed in MATLAB, which works as a teach pendent to find the intermediate points in the trajectory. Product of Exponential method is utilized for performing forward kinematics and derivative based algorithm is used to perform Inverse Kinematics. Positional control of servo actuators are obtained using Genetic Algorithm optimized fractional order PID controller, and finally the trajectory planning is done using linear segment parabolic blend method. The robot is successfully tested on specially tested people without wasting food.

Funded Projects

Research Publication

Awards Bagged by Faculty

• Dr Sanjay Patel is appointed as Nirma Limited Chair Professor in Chemical Technology to promote research and academic work in the area of Chemical Technology. The Chair would take up sponsored research projects in the concerned area and publish papers in reputed journals. Dr. Patel will also carry out research projects for Nirma Ltd sponsored by the organization.

• An Indian Patent (Application No. 381174) entitled ?An improved process for the preparation of biodiesel from Jatropha oil? was granted to Dr M H Joshipura and Dr A P Vyas on 2nd November 2021. The patent was an outcome of the GUJCOST funded project. 

Dr Sudeep Tanwar

• Dr. Sudeep Tanwar received an IEEE Outstanding Leadership Award ,recommended by the Award Committee of IEEE Technical Committee on Scalable Computing in collaboration with the 24th IEEE International Conference on Computational Science and Engineering (CSE 2021) held at Shenyang, China.
• In the list published on October 19, 2021 by Stanford University at Elsevier portal, Dr Sudeep Tanwar is placed in the top 2% of scientists across the globe.
